The remains of the Baths of Caracalla are among the splendid ruins of the Roman Empire that may be seen in the city of Rome. The baths date from the early A.D. 200's, when public baths were luxurious meeting places for Roman citizens. Public baths were surrounded by gardens, marble porches, and libraries.
